Hawaii Forest Birds

Hello All!

With the monumental task of publishing and shipping my 2016 Big Year book now in the rear view mirror, it’s time for a well-deserved break, and tackling a new birding challenge: birding Hawaii.

Since 2016, I’ve been wanting to get to Hawaii, which didn’t fit my goals at the time. I’ve wanted to volunteer for the Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Project, and help make a small dent in a larger conservation issue. Hawaii is a great place to do that, with many threats to the native birds. I also aim to do birder interviews across all the islands to highlight the conservation work that is happening to save these imperiled birds. I’ve been saving air miles and looking at how to do Hawaii on a budget, and now I’m going to give it a shot, and bring you along for the ride.

Follow along here… this blog post will be updated with my itinerary, photos, and everything you need to feel like you’re part of the adventure. Hopefully you will learn something and enjoy this long-awaited trip to paradise.
